Self propelled... though not road worthy.

As you see here, the top half of the engine is now back in the Fiat. Unfortunately I didn't take this picture before I started running the engine. Almost immediately after getting it running it started spewing oil all over what had been meticulously cleaned cast aluminum. It was a lot shinier half an hour before this picture. That will teach me. Somehow a crack developed in my valve cover. I am thinking JB weld or gluing gasket material over the crack along with stop drilling the ends of the cracks.

I also moved the car to a different spot in the parking lot so that all of the other people in my apartment will know that this car is not completely immobile.

First of all, why is there no snow on the ground?

Second of all, do you plan to run with the timing belt cover off forever?

Third of all, I'm looking at two weeks off and an assortment of new christmas tools so I ope t be following in your expensive and oily footsteps.

There is no snow on the ground be cause my car is so HOT!!!

Yes... I wasn't sure wether I would go with or without the timing belt cover, but I wanted to test things out for a wile with out it on incase I had to slip the cams one tooth in some direction... If you put it on then you have to disconnect the cooling system to get at the timing belt. It turns out I didn't have to adjust it, but the engine looks so much cooler with out it. though I have to say the whole thing looks a lot more dangerous with those teeth and belt wirling around. One thing that I think is worth not having it on there is that it make inspecting the belt a lot easier... thus I am more likely to look at it and change it more often. It isn't something that is best out of site out of mind...

Oily foot steps... you wouldn't happen to have an extra exhost side valve cover would you?

yes, i have extra valve covers

Also keep this in mind: should an errant rock or stick find it's way into your timing-belt system and cause what we in the business call "catastrophic failure," your head work up unto this point will be rendered "self-disassembled." With that said, it seems quite a few people run this way- at least in the street racing scene.

Might have something to do with young punks thinking their gear is indestructible

So, I just ran "Noreus" through My Space and came up with STEF in Gladstone. Don't miss her.
Cheers,
